1. Customer responsibility
Customers who submit STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP, SVG, image, or other design files for printing must have the legal right to reproduce the submitted design. By submitting a file, the customer represents that they either:
- Created and own the design;
- Have received permission from the copyright or intellectual-property owner; or
- Hold a license that permits the requested reproduction.
2. Personal-use licenses are not automatically sufficient
If a customer purchased or downloaded a model under a personal-use license, 3rd Axis Works may require evidence that the license permits the customer to have the item manufactured by a third-party printing service. A commercial license held by 3rd Axis Works may be required if the applicable license treats the transaction as commercial manufacturing.
3. Obviously protected designs
3rd Axis Works reserves the right to decline designs that appear to reproduce copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos, products, artwork, or other protected material when the customer's authorization is unclear.
4. Proof of authorization
When ownership or licensing is questionable, we may request reasonable evidence such as:
- A link to the original model and its license;
- Proof of purchase;
- Written permission from the designer or rightsholder; or
- Other documentation showing that reproduction is permitted.
If satisfactory authorization cannot be established, we may decline the order.
5. No resale rights created
Printing a customer-supplied design does not transfer ownership or licensing rights to 3rd Axis Works. Likewise, completing one customer's order does not give 3rd Axis Works permission to manufacture additional copies of that design for inventory or other customers.
6. Customer files remain confidential
Customer-supplied design files should be used only to fulfill the customer's order and should not be sold, distributed, published, or reused for other customers without permission.
7. Infringement complaints
If a rightsholder contacts 3rd Axis Works regarding a customer-supplied design, production of the disputed item should be suspended while the claim is evaluated. Files associated with a substantiated infringement claim should not be used for additional production.
